Heath Ledger Drug Investigation

Immediately following the death of Heath Ledger, DEA reportedly subpoenaed several documents from the NYPD and the Medical Examiner to try to determine exactly where Ledger got his cocktail of prescriptions that eventually caused his death. The agents are looking into whether these drugs were properly prescribed by physicians. According to NY Daily News:

The doctors - one in California, one in Texas - are believed to have supplied the "Brokeback Mountain" star with the powerful painkillers Oxycontin and Vicodin, law enforcement sources said. Authorities want to know if the drugs were prescribed illegally. "It’s an ongoing investigation," a law enforcement source told The News Tuesday. "It’s not clear if there was any wrongdoing."
Oxycontin is a very powerful drug, and mixing it with anything else could be fatal. Hopefully the DEA will track down these feel good docs. If anyone needs drugs to help them, it’s the terminally ill, like cancer patients.
