Jude Law: Peacemaker in Afghanistan

Jude Law paid a visit to war torn Afghanistan to promote Peace Day - an annual day urging global cease fire and nonviolence on September 21st, USA Today reports.

"It seemed that they really want to make this day, the Peace Day, work. And they did," Jude tells reporters.

"People recognize the day, because they recognize that lives could be saved." Law is in Afghanistan with director Jeremy Gilley to help produce a documentary film, called The Day After Peace.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted Peace Day in 2001, following a lobbying campaign by Gilley. Law and Gilley started filming their documentary in Afghanistan last year.

Law said the documentary, which also features Angelina Jolie, the Dalai Lama, and Annie Lennox, is the most important film he has been apart of. On his experiences in Afghanistan, Law tells reporters, "When I left Kabul last year, I was hugely moved not by the conflict that I have read so much about, but by the people's courage and the people's sense of hope."

Law and Gilley, who arrived in Kabul on Sunday, are to meet President Hamid Karzai, top NATO and U.N. officials, and members of the aid community.

NBC execs are probably doing cartwheels at the news that Jennifer Aniston will be guest-starring on "30 Rock" this fall.

According to MovieWeb, Aniston will be making an appearance on the cult favorite comedy during the upcoming season, though there is no news on what character she'll play or when the episode will air. This will be the first time the former "Friends" star has returned to the network that made her famous. In addition, she follows last season's guest-star David Schwimmer, who co-starred with Aniston on "Friends."

Jen Aniston says no to plastic surgery.

BEIJING, Aug. 25 -- Jennifer Aniston has ruled out having plastic surgery. The former "Friends" actress - who turns 40 next year - insists the only reason she would ever consider going under the surgeon's knife would be for medical purposes.

She said: "I once had the degree of my deviated septum operated on. Since then, I can breathe much better and sleep nights like a baby.

The rest of my body is all mine. And absolutely natural. And it's going to stay that way. I am very satisfied with what God gave me." Jennifer also revealed she maintains her svelte figure with regular yoga sessions.

She added: "I do the best I can to keep myself fit, both in body and mind. I also draw a lot of strength and energy from yoga, new age and cosmic energies. I very much believe in karma - the way you treat your fellow man is how you will ultimately be treated yourself."

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston could reunite at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, when the exes are debuting their new flicks just two days apart.

But the 39-year-old certainly didn't show it as she left an exclusive New York eatery with a big smile on her face after dining with friends.

The former Friends star and the musician split over his lack of commitment according to sources. He blamed their 'different chemistry'.


The pair, who started dating earlier this year, opted for a trial separation earlier this week.

Since her 2005 divorce from Brad Pitt, who left her for his Mr and Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie after four years of marriage, Aniston has yet to find a suitable partner to settle down with.

But not even her lack of current partner, or Pitt's recent unveiling of his and Jolie's twins Knox and Vivienne could wipe the smile from her face.

Perhaps it is time to settle this on TV. Angelina can turn to Jon Stewart from Comedy Central again and Jennifer can go on Oprah again.

They both hit the TV talk show hosts (Jennifer and Oprah are BFF's) after the split all those years ago but neither talked about their feelings for the other. Jennifer has kept mum since she left Brad Pitt, while Jolie has said she would like to meet with Jennifer.


In Touch Weekly has Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the cover of the magazine and they say that Brad has stormed out and the headline has this, "Only weeks after the birth of the twins Angelina tells him 'Don't Come back!'" The In Touch story on the alleged fight with Pitt-Jolie does not mention Jennifer Aniston on the cover, but does promise to dive into the split with John Mayer and asks, "Who dumped who?"

Star magazine has the reported late night phone call on their cover. They claim that Jennifer phoned Jane Pitt (Brad's mom) and while she was spilling to her favorite ex mother-in-law about hooking up and breaking up with a rock star, the report claims that Brad entered the room and was handed the phone. They tease the story online and say they will reveal the reaction of Angelina Jolie this week in the pages of the magazine.

Jen Aniston Looks 'Incredible' after Breakup

Jennifer Aniston, showing no outward signs of grief over her breakup with John Mayer, got a pleasant surprise this week when she ran into Friends pal Courteney Cox at an L.A. restaurant.

"It was a pretty amazing scene. Jen was sitting at a table inside and then suddenly Courteney Cox walked in," says a fellow diner at the Sunset Towers hotel's restaurant Thursday night. "They were pretty surprised and excited to run into each other."

Both appeared to be having business meetings over dinner, the diner says.

"Jen looked incredible," says the diner. "Let me put it this way, it made me doubt the breakup story, because there is no way she was blue in any way. She was really happy ... There was no hint of any problems."

Since the breakup, Aniston, 39, and Mayer, 30, have settled back into their separate lives on different sides of the country, multiple sources tell PEOPLE.

Aniston has been spending time at her home in the Hollywood Hills, where she was visited several times by friend and yoga instructor Mandy Ingber.

Mayer, after arriving in New York on Thursday morning on a break from his current tour, kept an even lower profile. He is due back on tour in Charlotte, N.C., on Aug. 19.

The couple, who had been dating since April, split mutually, according to a friend of Mayer.

"They were going in different directions," says the friend. "He's at the height of his career and very focused. Different things are important to them both right now."

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have called it quits, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.

"They had a great time together but they are just in different places in their lives right now," says a source of Aniston, 39, and Mayer, 30, who kicked off their courtship in April.

A friend of Mayer adds that a reconciliation isn't necessarily out of the question: "He never ends things with a clean slate. He likes to dwell on these relationships and sort everything out before saying goodbye for good."

The split was first reported Wednesday by the U.K.'s Mirror, which said the couple split earlier this week, after initially deciding to spend some time apart.

Reps for Aniston and Mayer have declined to comment.

Has Jennifer finally lost control of her former rock and roll bad boy John? Mayer has earlier admitted sleeping with fans of his show and his music but one would think that having a relationship with Jennifer would put the brakes on all of those types of wild times on the road.

Every picture tells a story and this one shows Mayer without a shirt and facing a woman in the hot tub. So is this someone Jennifer Aniston should be concerned about or just good clean fun with John Mayer? It appears that it is the latter. According to a report from Us Weekly the woman is the wife of a band member and it is just a casual conversation in the spa.

The picture was snapped in Mexico and the band is reportedly down there blowing off steam and getting way from the daily and nightly grind of the tour. A source says, "There is nobody on the trip he could possibly hook up with and definitely not the woman in the photos or any of the women there."

A source close to the former Friends actress told the Daily Mail: “There’s a lot of pressure on Jennifer dating John. Every other girlfriend he has had has been ten years younger than Jen, and she’s very competitive about keeping up.”

The source claims Jennifer had collagen injections in her lips and Botox to smooth out wrinkles at the star of last month: “She’s obsessing about her face because it’s sort of been the only part of her that’s aged.

“From the neck down she’s like an Olympic athlete, with great proportion, tone and skin colour.

“But she worries a lot about wrinkles and her thinning lips. That’s what she focuses on.”

Last year Jennifer had surgery on her nose as part of an operation to correct a deviated septum.

Meanwhile, a focus group survey conducted by HCD Research of New Jersey shows that Republicans, Democrats and Independents believe the ditzy celebrity boosted her image with her playful video response to an ad by John McCain’s Republican campaign.

The overwhelmingly positive response suggests that Paris might have a tip or two for the actual candidates — deflect ridicule with humour. People like it and it makes the antagonists look foolish.

Jennifer Aniston's rep is putting the brakes on two reports about the actress this week.

OK! claims Aniston, 39, is planning a low-key wedding with John Mayer this fall. The tabloid also offers up elaborate details: She will wear a Vera Wang dress, there will orchids everywhere and they will serve champagne and caviar. "She's at an age where she is thinking with her head not just her heart," OK! quotes a source as saying.

But her rep tells Usmagazine.com: "She is not getting married."

Meanwhile, Star claims in its latest issue that she is going to have Mayer's baby "as Brad and Angie's twins wow the world."

Jackie Chan to star in Hollywood spy comedy

HONG KONG - Jackie Chan's next Hollywood project is an action comedy about a Chinese spy working undercover in the U.S. whose cover is blown, the movie's producer said Thursday.


"The Spy Next Door" will start shooting in mid-October, producer Robert Simonds told The Associated Press.

Simonds said no one else had been cast.

In an e-mail message, he described the film as a cross between "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "Big Daddy."

Chan plays a Chinese agent working undercover while on loan to the U.S. government. His cover is blown when he looks after the children of his neighbor, a beautiful single mother, and one of them accidentally downloads secret codes off his computer.

Solon So, the chief executive of Chan's company JC Group, confirmed the project on Tuesday but declined to give details. He said the movie may be delayed if the Screen Actors Guild fails to reach a new contract with Hollywood studios and goes on strike. Chan is a SAG member.

Chan usually juggles Hollywood and Chinese-language projects. His last film was the American kung fu movie "The Forbidden Kingdom," which marked his first on-screen collaboration with action star Jet Li.

He will next be seen in the Chinese-language "Shinjuku Incident," reportedly about Chinese immigrants living in Tokyo's Shinjuku shopping and entertainment district.

Simonds' producer credits include "The Pink Panther," "Big Daddy," "The Wedding Singer" and "The Waterboy."

MARY-KATE OLSEN has been subpoenaed to testify in front of a Grand Jury as investigators hope to end the mystery surrounding HEATH LEDGER's drug overdose death.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials in New York are calling on Olsen, Ledger's close friend, to fill in the blanks related to the six-month-long investigation, according to U.S. news show Access Hollywood.

The latest news comes a day after her lawyer claimed the actress has provided law officials with all the information she knows about Ledger's accidental drug overdose in January (08).

The 22-year-old actress' testimony is sought after because the masseuse who found Ledger dead called Olsen before contacting the emergency services.
Reports on Monday (04Aug08) suggested Olsen was refusing to co-operate with the federal probe until she was guaranteed immunity from prosecution.

But her lawyer Michael C. Miller insisted, "We don't know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the Government's inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate."
A timeline for Olsen's testimony has not been released.

Cops Say Shia "Not At Fault" for Crash

Break out the pink onesies. Matt Damon's wife, Luciana – whom the actor says is "due soon" – is having another little girl!

"I'm so outnumbered down here, it's crazy," Damon, 37, told USA Today via telephone from his home in Miami.

This child will be the third girl in the Damon household, joining big sisters Isabella, 2, and Alexia, 9.

And while they're undoubtedly prepared with tons of hand-me-downs, one thing the couple doesn't have yet is a name. "We decided to wait till she's born," Damon said. "We're going to get a look at her and we'll probably keep debating it!"

SHIA LABEOUF - SHIA LABEOUF TO MISS TRANSFORMERS 2 AFTER SURGERY

Shia LaBeouf will miss the start of filming for the next Transformers film after undergoing "extensive surgery" following a car crash this weekend.

The 22-year-old actor was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning in Hollywood after his car hit a truck and flipped across the road.

He was detained on suspicion of drink-driving following the 02:30 local time (10:30 BST) incident yesterday.

On Monday his publicist confirmed the arrest and said LaBeouf would miss at least one month's worth of filming for Transformers 2.

Although none of his injuries are life-threatening, he has sustained injuries to his head and hand.

"Attorneys for Mr LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27th 2008," a statement said.

"Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time."

LaBeouf is currently in the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre being treated for his injuries, the same location as his passenger and the driver of the other vehicle..

The young actor, who played Sam Witwicky in last year's Transformers movie was arrested in November 2007 after refusing to leave a pharmacy in Chicago at the end of a night out.

"That was complete and utter insanity," LaBeouf told Empire magazine earlier this year.

"I was an ***hole, and it was a mistake I'm still completely embarrassed about it."

They report this week that the actress, an admittedly fearful flyer, told Vogue in 2004 she was terrified to make the trip to Malta to visit then husband Brad Pitt during filming of Troy. She only visited Vince Vaughn on the London set of Fred Claus in 2006 to salvage their fading romance (and in happier times the two rarely exhibited PDA).

Now, as Aniston continues her summer of love (she accompanied Mayer to Toronto July 7), she seems unready to resume her solitary L.A. life. Says a source, "Jen misses John when he's not around! She wants to be with him all the time."

It was a family affair Saturday as Lynne Spears hung out with Britney and her sons Preston and Jayden for an overnight visit at the star's Studio City home.

In town since Wednesday, Lynne and Britney have been enjoying some mother-daughter bonding, shopping at the True Religion warehouse and Pottery Barn on Friday before enjoying a "girls dinner" of salad, sushi rolls, and fish at Bond St. restaurant with two of Britney's pals.

"Britney walked in with a big smile and introduced her mom to the staff," says an observer. "She looked gorgeous, and I have never seen her in a better mood. She was laughing the whole time she was here. Britney seemed to have the best time hanging out with her mom and friends."

Meanwhile, dad Jamie spent the weekend at his new house in Santa Monica.

The Jolie-Pitts Welcome a Son & Daughter

Brad Pitt was at Angelina Jolie's side as she gave birth to a son and daughter Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly," Dr. Michel Sussmann told PEOPLE Sunday. "Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well."

Sussmann confirmed the Nice-Matin newspaper report that Jolie gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarean section on Saturday night. Knox weighed 5.03 lbs, and Vivienne 5 lbs.

The twins are the fifth and sixth children for Jolie, 33, and partner Brad Pitt, 44, who are already parents to Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.

"The mother and father are very, very happy," Sussmann told PEOPLE.

The doctor told the Associated Press that the Cesarean was moved forward "for medical reasons" so that the babies could be born "in the best conditions." He also said Jolie is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days.

On July 1, Jolie checked in to the Fondation Lenval hospital to await the births. The family has been living in the south of France since this spring.

Jolie recently told Entertainment Weekly that she was surprised – but not daunted – when she learned she was having twins. "It did shock us, and we jumped to six [children] quickly," she said. "But we like a challenge."

WEDDING RUMORS HOT UP.

It's only been a matter of months since Jennifer Aniston hooked up with John Mayer and the wedding rumours are already flying.

Last week it was claimed that the Friends actress had blurted out a kind-of marriage proposal to her man - only to be turned down.

"During a recent romantic stroll on the beach in Malibu, the words 'I want to marry you' just tumbled out of Jen's mouth, a source told Star.

"Unfortunately for Jen," the source continued, "John doesn't share her desire to get married too quickly."

Mayer – who this week confessed that Aniston isn't the only groupie he's slept with – has since had a dramatic change of heart and is ready to make a more permanent commitment - at least according to the National Enquirer.

The latest edition of the gossip rag carries the headline "John Mayer Proposes to Jen" on it's front cover.

SANITIZE THE WHOLE PLAYGROUND FOR SURI?WHAT?

I have a hard time believing this one. Tom Cruise was re-shooting scenes from his never going to be released movie Valkyrie in LA, and Katie and Suri decided to drop by and visit. While they were there, she let Suri play at a public playground - well, after she took an entire bottle of sanitizer and wipes and spayed down the ENTIRE PLAYGROUND.

Paris Hilton has dismissed reports that she was punched in the face by a party-goer at an LA nightclub!!!

Previous reports said that Paris got a bruised cheek after being attacked during a personal appearance at Coco de Ville on Tuesday.

Paris insists that the rumors were a publicity stunt. “I had a great time and didn’t even have an argument with anyone. I don’t know where they come up with this stuff. It’s a completely made up story.

“Maybe [it was for] publicity for the club. It was my first time there, so I think someone just put that story out there so the place would get a bunch of press.”

UMA THURMAN - THURMAN'S SECOND ENGAGEMENT PARTY

Actress UMA THURMAN has thrown a second party to celebrate her engagement to ARPAD BUSSON.

The Kill Bill star announced last month (Jun08) she is set to marry her Swiss businessman beau, who she has been dating for a year.

Last month (Jun08), the couple threw a lavish party in the grounds of Busson's Kensington, London home, inviting friends including Elizabeth Hurley, designer Stella MCCartney and British artist Damien Hirst.

MORNING SICKNES:ANGIE OR JEN?

Many celebrity watchers love to hate Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Many still hold her responsible for the break up of Pitt's marriage to Jennifer Aniston. That's now ancient history and it might have been a good thing anyway as without it fans couldn't be taking in so much information about sexy guitarists John Mayer and his new relationship with Jennifer.

Star Magazine has a poll for fans of a bunch of celebrity couples to see who you are sick of and which couple still has the buzz. One of the choices for Brad and Angie is, "If I hear another thing about Brangelina I'm going to have morning sickness." That one is the top vote getter in the poll with a whopping 54% of the vote.

For Aniston and Mayer, it appears that fans love them and only the Jolie and Pitt fans are fed up with "Johnifer" as the answer, "I want all the details about their hot romance," is a big winner for the couple in the Star Magazine poll with 45% of the vote. Other couples in the poll include Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson and and Madonna and A-Rod.

Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo get even worse ratings than Brad and Angelina and Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong are dubbed as serial daters and the majority of responders to the unscientific online poll say they are fed up with those two. The poll is here, can the Brangelina fans vote and vote some more to bring their happy couple up a bit?

JENNIFER ANISTON FOUND JESSICA LOVE LETTER .

Everyone is always talking about how Jennifer Aniston is unlucky in love that that America can't wait for their sweetheart to find love again, get married and have lots of beautiful children. Only problem is, as soon as she starts dating someone, the media goes wild with fabricated stories.

The NY Post is reporting that Jenn "a batch" of love letters from John Mayer's ex Jessica Simpson in his guitar case and "Jennifer was more hurt than angry at the discovery." said a source.

"The letters surprisingly were very touching and well written."

The source added that Jenn was upset at first, but her and John "smoothed things over."

Aside from the fact that Jenn's rep called the story "completely fabricated," why would he keep the letters somewhere like his guitar case? He uses that thing all the time! The media tries to make Jenn look like a jealous psycho possessive girlfriend, when it’s probably pretty far from the truth. Who do you believe?

ZHANG ZI YI AND VIVI NEVO ENGANGED!

Zhang Ziyi (29) and Vivi Nevo (41) are engaged to be married. Nevo who confirmed the rumor on Tuesday, and said that a wedding is being planned for next year.

Nevo, who is a low-key billionaire stockholder of Time Warner, made the rarely high-profile announcement while attending the annual conference of Allen & Company in Sun Valley, Idaho, the Associated Press reported. Ziyi accompanied Nevo to the event.

BRITNEY IS BACK!

Britney Spears is back in action! The superstar has been shooting a highly publicized segment for Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" Tour Us Magazine reports.

Spears, shot an elevator scene in which she is disguised in a black hoodie, a source told Us.

Once in the elevator she realizes she is trapped and cannot get out, she "starts to kick the wall and hit things," the source added. "At one point she screams into the camera."

In a state of panic Spears takes off the hood, revealing her long blonde locks, looks straight into the camera and says her famous line "It's Britney, [expletive]."


Spears has been keeping herself busy these days with recent appearances on "How I Met Your Mother" and working on her upcoming album.
