Jude Law: Peacemaker in Afghanistan

Jude Law paid a visit to war torn Afghanistan to promote Peace Day - an annual day urging global cease fire and nonviolence on September 21st, USA Today reports.

"It seemed that they really want to make this day, the Peace Day, work. And they did," Jude tells reporters.

"People recognize the day, because they recognize that lives could be saved." Law is in Afghanistan with director Jeremy Gilley to help produce a documentary film, called The Day After Peace.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted Peace Day in 2001, following a lobbying campaign by Gilley. Law and Gilley started filming their documentary in Afghanistan last year.

Law said the documentary, which also features Angelina Jolie, the Dalai Lama, and Annie Lennox, is the most important film he has been apart of. On his experiences in Afghanistan, Law tells reporters, "When I left Kabul last year, I was hugely moved not by the conflict that I have read so much about, but by the people's courage and the people's sense of hope."

Law and Gilley, who arrived in Kabul on Sunday, are to meet President Hamid Karzai, top NATO and U.N. officials, and members of the aid community.

The rest of my body is all mine. And absolutely natural. And it's going to stay that way. I am very satisfied with what God gave me." Jennifer also revealed she maintains her svelte figure with regular yoga sessions.

Two separate reports due to hit this week will claim that Jennifer is now calling Brad Pitt and another report claims that Brad has stormed out of the house in France. Perhaps it is time to settle this on TV. Angelina can turn to Jon Stewart from Comedy Central again and Jennifer can go on Oprah again.

They both hit the TV talk show hosts (Jennifer and Oprah are BFF's) after the split all those years ago but neither talked about their feelings for the other. Jennifer has kept mum since she left Brad Pitt, while Jolie has said she would like to meet with Jennifer.

In Touch Weekly has Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the cover of the magazine and they say that Brad has stormed out and the headline has this, "Only weeks after the birth of the twins Angelina tells him 'Don't Come back!'" The In Touch story on the alleged fight with Pitt-Jolie does not mention Jennifer Aniston on the cover, but does promise to dive into the split with John Mayer and asks, "Who dumped who?"

Star magazine has the reported late night phone call on their cover. They claim that Jennifer phoned Jane Pitt (Brad's mom) and while she was spilling to her favorite ex mother-in-law about hooking up and breaking up with a rock star, the report claims that Brad entered the room and was handed the phone. They tease the story online and say they will reveal the reaction of Angelina Jolie this week in the pages of the magazine.

Jennifer Aniston, showing no outward signs of grief over her breakup with John Mayer, got a pleasant surprise this week when she ran into Friends pal Courteney Cox at an L.A. restaurant.

"It was a pretty amazing scene. Jen was sitting at a table inside and then suddenly Courteney Cox walked in," says a fellow diner at the Sunset Towers hotel's restaurant Thursday night. "They were pretty surprised and excited to run into each other."

Both appeared to be having business meetings over dinner, the diner says.

"Jen looked incredible," says the diner. "Let me put it this way, it made me doubt the breakup story, because there is no way she was blue in any way. She was really happy ... There was no hint of any problems."

Since the breakup, Aniston, 39, and Mayer, 30, have settled back into their separate lives on different sides of the country, multiple sources tell PEOPLE.

Aniston has been spending time at her home in the Hollywood Hills, where she was visited several times by friend and yoga instructor Mandy Ingber.

Mayer, after arriving in New York on Thursday morning on a break from his current tour, kept an even lower profile. He is due back on tour in Charlotte, N.C., on Aug. 19.

The couple, who had been dating since April, split mutually, according to a friend of Mayer.

"They had a great time together but they are just in different places in their lives right now," says a source of Aniston, 39, and Mayer, 30, who kicked off their courtship in April.

A friend of Mayer adds that a reconciliation isn't necessarily out of the question: "He never ends things with a clean slate. He likes to dwell on these relationships and sort everything out before saying goodbye for good."

The split was first reported Wednesday by the U.K.'s Mirror, which said the couple split earlier this week, after initially deciding to spend some time apart.

Jackie Chan to star in Hollywood spy comedy

HONG KONG - Jackie Chan's next Hollywood project is an action comedy about a Chinese spy working undercover in the U.S. whose cover is blown, the movie's producer said Thursday.

"The Spy Next Door" will start shooting in mid-October, producer Robert Simonds told The Associated Press.

Simonds said no one else had been cast.

In an e-mail message, he described the film as a cross between "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "Big Daddy."

Chan plays a Chinese agent working undercover while on loan to the U.S. government. His cover is blown when he looks after the children of his neighbor, a beautiful single mother, and one of them accidentally downloads secret codes off his computer.

Solon So, the chief executive of Chan's company JC Group, confirmed the project on Tuesday but declined to give details. He said the movie may be delayed if the Screen Actors Guild fails to reach a new contract with Hollywood studios and goes on strike. Chan is a SAG member.

Chan usually juggles Hollywood and Chinese-language projects. His last film was the American kung fu movie "The Forbidden Kingdom," which marked his first on-screen collaboration with action star Jet Li.

He will next be seen in the Chinese-language "Shinjuku Incident," reportedly about Chinese immigrants living in Tokyo's Shinjuku shopping and entertainment district.

Simonds' producer credits include "The Pink Panther," "Big Daddy," "The Wedding Singer" and "The Waterboy."

MARY-KATE OLSEN has been subpoenaed to testify in front of a Grand Jury as investigators hope to end the mystery surrounding HEATH LEDGER's drug overdose death.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials in New York are calling on Olsen, Ledger's close friend, to fill in the blanks related to the six-month-long investigation, according to U.S. news show Access Hollywood.

The latest news comes a day after her lawyer claimed the actress has provided law officials with all the information she knows about Ledger's accidental drug overdose in January (08).

The 22-year-old actress' testimony is sought after because the masseuse who found Ledger dead called Olsen before contacting the emergency services.
Reports on Monday (04Aug08) suggested Olsen was refusing to co-operate with the federal probe until she was guaranteed immunity from prosecution.

But her lawyer Michael C. Miller insisted, "We don't know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the Government's inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate."
A timeline for Olsen's testimony has not been released.

Shia LaBeouf will miss the start of filming for the next Transformers film after undergoing "extensive surgery" following a car crash this weekend.

The 22-year-old actor was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning in Hollywood after his car hit a truck and flipped across the road.

He was detained on suspicion of drink-driving following the 02:30 local time (10:30 BST) incident yesterday.

On Monday his publicist confirmed the arrest and said LaBeouf would miss at least one month's worth of filming for Transformers 2.

Although none of his injuries are life-threatening, he has sustained injuries to his head and hand.

"Attorneys for Mr LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27th 2008," a statement said.

"Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time."

LaBeouf is currently in the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre being treated for his injuries, the same location as his passenger and the driver of the other vehicle..

The young actor, who played Sam Witwicky in last year's Transformers movie was arrested in November 2007 after refusing to leave a pharmacy in Chicago at the end of a night out.

"That was complete and utter insanity," LaBeouf told Empire magazine earlier this year.

"I was an ***hole, and it was a mistake I'm still completely embarrassed about it."

Brad Pitt was at Angelina Jolie's side as she gave birth to a son and daughter Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly," Dr. Michel Sussmann told PEOPLE Sunday. "Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well."

Sussmann confirmed the Nice-Matin newspaper report that Jolie gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarean section on Saturday night. Knox weighed 5.03 lbs, and Vivienne 5 lbs.

The twins are the fifth and sixth children for Jolie, 33, and partner Brad Pitt, 44, who are already parents to Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.

"The mother and father are very, very happy," Sussmann told PEOPLE.

The doctor told the Associated Press that the Cesarean was moved forward "for medical reasons" so that the babies could be born "in the best conditions." He also said Jolie is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days.

On July 1, Jolie checked in to the Fondation Lenval hospital to await the births. The family has been living in the south of France since this spring.

Jolie recently told Entertainment Weekly that she was surprised – but not daunted – when she learned she was having twins. "It did shock us, and we jumped to six [children] quickly," she said. "But we like a challenge."

He wrote on his Web site that "Levi" is another name for the apostle Matthew in the Bible. "They were, in fact, two names for the same person," he said.

Britney's below shoulder length hair extensions were colored blonde and styled straight with a middle parting.

The video shoot, scheduled for Tuesday was, however, canceled, reportedly because of technical delays.

As reported earlier, Britney's video will be played on a giant screen onstage during Madonna's concerts during the tour which gets underway in August to promote Madonna's eleventh studio album, Hard Candy.

The star of the upcoming film Marley & Me watched Mayer’s set Sunday at the Rothbury Festival from off stage, while he crooned for 90 minutes.

The Detroit News reports that photographers used telephoto lenses to attempt to get a shot of Aniston.

Aniston has become a regular fixture on Mayer's summer tour. She was spotted at his St. Louis concert on Thursday and at his Milwaukee gig the day before.

Cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer will reprise their roles for a big-screen adaptation ‘within the next 18 months’, according to insiders.

The actors have been inspired by the recent success of Sex And The City, which recently hit cinemas worldwide.

A source said: ‘Jennifer, Courteney and the rest of the cast are keen to reprise their roles, under the right circumstances.

‘The box office success of Sex And The City has really got their wheels spinning about how a Friends film could be just as big, if done right.

‘Timing and the script are really important, but now that Courteney and Jen both have production companies, they can potentially get very involved in those decisions.’

Talk of a reunion for the loveable gang from New York’s Central Perk has been bandied around Hollywood ever since the show aired its final season in 2004.

While Cox, 44, LeBlanc, 40, Perry, 39, Kudrow, 45 and Schwimmer, 41, were believed to be keen on the reunion, Aniston, 39, is believed to have dragged her heels.

Now, however, she is keen to move ahead with the project, which will be produced by Warner Bros.

Starbucks Coffee announced it plans to close 600 under performing stores, and eliminate as many as 12,000 full- and part-time positions.

President Bush’s tax cuts kept the economy humming along for the past 7 years, after the dot com crash during the last part of the Clinton Presidency. The economy had to fall eventually. Today the stock market fell again, marking the first official day of a bear market.

Even worse, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah told oil consumers Tuesday that they should get used to high prices and not blame the country for the spike in the price of crude, the Agence France-Presse news agency reported.

We need far more investment into alternative fuels to offset the impact petroleum will have on our economy, especially since the democrats in congress voted down a bill that would have allowed more drilling for oil.

Things are going to get tougher, especially in the housing market, so save your nickels and dimes. We’re heading for a recession. Let’s hope it doesn’t become a depression.

Cute rocker couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale take their son Kingston, 2, for a stroll in London on Tuesday afternoon.

The Stefani-Rossdales recently had dinner at Feng Shang Princess and one blogger eavesdropped on Gwen’s conversation. She reportedly said “that it was no longer really possible to make a lot of money selling records [and her] concerts did much better. But even that, she said, was more difficult these days as people have many more choices. She claimed also to have [sold] 19 million of her first record, and ___ million of her most recent one, and that record companies were pretty much failing.”

Paris Hilton Not Allowed to Get Tattoos

Paris Hilton was supposedly banned from getting a tattoo by BF Benji Madden, because he wants her to remain “pure.”

Benji is planning to have Paris etched on his heavily-tattooed torso, but Paris isn’t allowed to get one in turn. “He is going to get one of me but he won’t let me get one,” Paris says. “He doesn’t like tattoos on women. He thinks I look pure.”
